Investigation Evolves with Technology into Social Media

As the world of technology changes, the investigative techniques and strategies used by professionals like those at International Investigators changes as well. We are known for staying on the cutting edge of both technology and investigative methods. And we like it that way.

One of the areas that has grown, and will continue to grow, is the use of social media. Social media engineering is one investigative technique we have become proficient with, especially in our capacity as professionals who find missing persons. We were already renowned for our abilities in how to find missing person, but social media and social media engineering opens a new avenue in investigative work.

Mom’s Missing!

Private investigators are well aware that not all families are like the Walton's '3/28 – or even the Musketeers. It’s not always all for one and one for all. In fact, here at International Investigators we see many families in situations like this:

Caroline and her sister Laura stopped by to visit their mother, who suffered for the last decade with dementia and had been living in an upscale memory care unit. When they arrived, they learned that Roger, their youngest brother, had signed their mother out of the facility. He explained to the nursing staff that he was driving her over to Caroline's house for a meal. But Roger left with his mother and never returned. He told nurses that his sisters would return [...]

Love and the Missing Person Investigation

When Adam joined the military and left home as a member of the U.S. Navy, he was fresh out of high school. After he received a favorable discharge, Adam moved back to the area where his family resided. But this time, barely old enough to legally order a beer, he was a married man.

Adam had fallen in love and tied the knot with a woman who had also joined the Navy fresh out of high school in Seattle. When he brought her to Georgia, there were immediately problems in the marriage. Adam's young wife was homesick for her own family. She was overwhelmed by the culture shock of trying to adjust to life in such a different part of the country with new in-laws [...]

Social Media Posts Lead to Proof of Insurance Fraud

When International Investigators was contacted by an insurance company, we were asked to find a missing Maserati. Their customer had filed a claim, stating that this very expensive vehicle had been stolen right out of his garage. But the insurance company saw several red flags in the claim. The claims adjuster discovered the claimant was experiencing serious financial problems and suspected the claim was filed in an effort to get some quick cash.

Experience by the International Investigators teams has shown that people like to brag and show off material belongings and sometimes, illegal antics. And our investigators know what techniques to employ in pursuit of insurance fraud.

Immediately we began a background investigation accessing data bases restricted to only the highest levels of investigative teams. [...]

Insubordinate Professional Behavior Calls for Investigation

Unfortunately, some people bend rules or arrogantly break them. Insubordinate ways may be born out of a false belief that they will never be caught. Sometimes, people don't believe that rules apply to them. This was true of a case involving a police captain and one of his employees.

For months, rumors floated through the department and the community about the married captain, who was supposedly romantically involved with a married employee from the administrative office. An investigation was not about an extramarital affair. The client was not intent on finding an unfaithful husband. No, if the rumors were proven true, this activity was grounds for termination. Additional gossip accused the love birds of engaging in intimate behavior behind the captain's closed office door, on [...]
