Anyone Can Be Sexually Harassed, Proving It Is What Matters

Sexual Harassment Is Sometimes Hard To Prove. There are always three sides to every story.  His……Hers…..and the Truth, but when Laquita came in our office and sobbingly explained that no one at her workplace believed she was being sexually harassed by a supervisor at her workplace, we did.   She was very convincing.  A large man, twenty years her senior and a supervisor in another department always seemed to know when she was alone and would take that opportunity to grope her.   When she told him she was in a committed relationship with children, he left her alone for a while.   She confided the incidents with her direct supervisor who brushed it off saying he was a very upstanding religious man with a fine family.   He didn’t stay [...]

7 Ways a Private Investigator can help your Law Firm Win More Cases and Grow Your Practice

A Private Investigative Company like International Investigators, Inc. works with an Attorney to obtain the best results for their Clients.  With over 1.2 million attorneys in the US and 80,000 taking the bar exam every year, the need for assistance in providing the court with accurate information is extremely high.  We have many attorneys requesting our services on behalf of their Clients.  An attorney must have the facts and many times, hiring an Investigative Company is the most effective approach to obtain pertinent information to present to the court.

Consider the following common scenario: an attorney schedules a consultation with a prospective Client, but the Client’s story just doesn’t add up. Sometimes Clients forget some of the facts, but sometimes they are trying to be [...]

A Name is a Name until it has Criminal or Civil Ligations linked to it

Conducting a background investigation upon someone may seem fairly simple these days because so much information is now online and so many courts allow access to their records.  Many times you have to have some type of subscription to access more detailed information.  There are many sites online that allow you to run a name, hopefully the name you put through their system isn’t common, but if it is, you could be getting information on multiple individuals who share that name, even though they may have different dates of birth.

International Investigators conduct background checks and perform due diligence research for the private sector and for many businesses and corporations.  Many times a company will take the word of a prospective employee: they have never [...]

It Just Seemed Too Good: How An Employee Gained Unauthorized Access to HIPPA Records and Lost Her Job

It Just Seemed Too Good: How An Employee Gained Unauthorized Access to HIPPA Records and Lost Her Job

Do the best you can, be kind and courtesy, have good work product and treat clients, patients and co-workers with respect, work well with others and be on top of your game.  All these applied to our Client, Amanda’s Office Manager Sharon, she was a team player from the outside and yet, things just seemed too good.   That saying:  If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!  So Amanda disregarded signs of change.  She didn’t notice Sharon was beginning to be a few minutes late getting to work, the phone rang a couple more times than necessary, the once chipper and eager girl she hired was more lax and a bit distant, but her work was good, so “don’t fix it” applied until one day [...]

What Causes 33% of All Business Bankruptcies?

It isn’t uncommon for the phone to start ringing at International Investigators at the beginning of calendar quarters - you know, January, April, July and October. We don’t always know who will be on the other end of the line – small business owners, financial officers, or sometimes an attorney. But we know why they are calling – it will be about missing money, theft by employees or employee embezzlement. That’s because quarterly reports are reviewed and something is found that isn’t quite right.

Sometimes there is just a suspicion and in those cases, we provide financial forensic experts to thoroughly examine the financial records and processes. No one wants to think there is an employee stealing from the company.

In other situations, there is obvious [...]

Don’t Get Scammed into Puny Background Investigations

Whew! Just do a Google search for Background Investigation and see the more than 33,400,000 results pop up! You would think that there would not be any chance of a person being hoodwinked with the number of “services” out there to reveal the con artists and scammers. But you would be wrong.

Why is that?

Well, it is pretty simple. There are basically two reasons for the growing likelihood of a person – of any age, gender or race – getting conned:

People are optimistic and naïve. They don’t want to believe there is ever really a need for background check services, especially in a personal situation. They may understand why a business would conduct an employment background check and even a criminal background check, but have [...]

Employment Background Checks Help Spot Fake Diplomas

In a tough job market, job searchers can become desperate and willing to do anything to get a job – including lying about their education with fake diplomas obtained from non-existent universities. To keep from getting duped and facing future consequences, employers need to conduct thorough background investigations on potential employees to detect the phonies before hiring and training them.

Unfortunately, fraud is rampant in the employment market with fake degrees on the rise. Google “fake degree” and hundreds of websites offering diplomas pop up. These “diploma mills” sell job applicants high school, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degrees, or professional certifications with transcripts for a flat fee. The diploma often requires little, if any, course work and awards a degree based solely on the person’s [...]

Burglary and Trickery Foiled by TSCM

After years of providing investigative services, here at International Investigators, there are some things we understand. When someone’s home is burgled, the residents often lose the feeling of being safe and secure. But when someone’s homes is invaded twice in a very short time frame, that fear is mixed with confusion and uncertainty. Sandy* had moved out of her home after the second incident. She was afraid, and not quite sure why the burglary had been repeated.

In each instance, some possessions had been taken: a computer, some collectibles, and then some things like BlueRay movies, CDs and even a few books. It didn’t make sense to her and it sounded unusual to us, too.

Since there was a chance the home would be invaded again, [...]
