We were contacted by a family for help in finding a missing person – their son. He was in his mid-twenties and had taken his wife of two years to South America for vacation. She retuned alone saying he had disappeared and she had no idea where he was. The parents made some inquiries, but were unable to locate any trace of him. It appeared, just like the wife said, that he had simply vanished.
Figuring out that finding a missing person is not an easy task, especially outside the country, they turned to . It didn’t take too long before our missing person investigator found him – in a South American jail. It took a bit longer to get him released and back home.
In this case, the search for the missing person wasn’t the whole – or end – of the story.
The tale of how he got in jail was a surprise.
First of all, you have to understand that both the son and his wife were illegal drug users. The family wasn’t aware of that until the missing persons investigator located the son and reported back about where he was found. That was the initial shock, but the story continued…
One day during their vacation the son went off to enjoy one activity while his wife went off to do something else. They were in agreement that they wanted to do different things and felt comfortable with the arrangement.
However, the wife returned to the hotel sooner than expected and discovered him with another woman. She was so angry that she stomped out – and went to the local police and said he was in possession of illegal drugs. They raided the hotel room. There were drugs, which she insisted were all his. He was arrested and carted off to jail.
The wife flew home to the states without her husband with the story she had contrived to tell the family. The husband was not even aware of what role she had played in the raid and arrest. He was also not aware that she had left him saying he had vanished.
It may be a surprising story, but the real twist was yet to come. After he returned home – they got back together again.
There are lots of reasons why people are missing and why others want to locate a missing person.
