Basic Course
The purpose of this course is to introduce students new in the field to the general types, practices and jobs available within the private investigations industry. Of especial significance, this course will instruct students about the various laws pertaining to the industry, as well as the expectations of clients, who pay for investigative services.
All sections of the course are taught by instructors who are experienced and licensed private investigators; many are renowned for their previous jobs as detectives in law enforcement. This Basic Course will provide the groundwork for understanding the various types of private investigations, and the general methods of conducting them. This course is excellent for allowing students an awareness of the vast realm encompassed by the industry title, “private investigations,” and is helpful for introducing individuals to a specialization towards which they may be inclined and desire further training. These specializations can be later studied in the advanced courses.
The primary components of the Basic Course include:
- Today’s modern investigator
- Legal investigations
- Insurance claims investigations (life/health and property/casualty)
- Corporate investigations
- Private or domestic investigations
- Equipment needed to conduct a professional surveillance
- Investigative reports
- Administrative procedures
At the end of the course, there will be one final examination over the material covered. All passing students will receive a Certificate of Completion, which will include 16 hours of experience attributable towards the licensing requirements of most states.
